On Tuesday, the Pakistan cricket team achieved a remarkable victory over Sri Lanka by winning a Cricket World Cup match with a six-wicket margin.

The Green Shirts accomplished this win by successfully chasing down a challenging target of 345 runs, primarily thanks to the outstanding centuries scored by Muhammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique.

Facing the daunting task of pursuing 345 runs after Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama both achieved centuries, giving Sri Lanka a strong position, the 1992 World Cup champions managed to reach the target in 48.2 overs, with Rizwan contributing an unbeaten 131 and Abdullah scoring 113.

Ireland previously held the record for the highest run chase in World Cup history, with 329 against England in 2011.

The wicketkeeper batter dedicated his match-winning dedication to the oppressed Palestinians on X (Twitter).

This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza. 🤲🏼

Happy to contribute in the win. Credits to the whole team and especially Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier.

Extremely grateful to the people of Hyderabad for the amazing hospitality and support throughout.

“This was for our Gaza brothers and sisters.” I’m delighted to have contributed to this win. “Thank you to the entire team, particularly Abdullah Shafique and Hassan Ali for making it easier,” Muhammad Rizwan wrote on X.

He also thanked the people of Hyderabad for their outstanding support and kind welcome.

According to the UN, over 260,000 Palestinians have been forced to abandon their homes in Gaza as Israel continues to bombard the Palestinian enclave from the air, land, and sea.
