On Thursday, Salt had been extracted for the registration of the Himalayan Pink Salt from Pakistan’s salt range that extends along the south of the Potohar Plateau and the north of the Jhelum river. As confirmed by the Ministry of Commerce.
The Intellectual Property Organization decided in a joint meeting with the commerce adviser Raza Dawood along with the chairman Mujeeb Ahmed Khan.
Raza Dawood said; In order to encourage the manufacturing for the expansion in the salt range business globally, ‘We have come to a conclusion to register Pink Salt and Rice from the ranges So that the mountains of Pakistan would be inscribed as Geographical Indications [GI] by the other countries.
Furthermore adding;
We urge the business communities to notify IPO regarding the other products that can be inscribed as GI so that various other products which are of prime concern can be pursued so that their export potential is secured.
Then a registrant would be appointed by the approval of the Cabinet.
This can support and magnify the national and international trade of Pakistan economically.
The Commerce adviser expressed contentment by the progress and recapitulate the importance of the brisk registration of GI for the various other products will preserve and obliterate the violation of such products.
