In the first four months of the current financial year (2023-24), Pakistan achieved textile product exports worth $5,565.079 million, as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
However, this export figure reflects a decline of 6.33 percent compared to the corresponding period last year, which witnessed textile exports of $5,940.992 million during July-October (2022-23).
Despite the overall decline, certain textile commodities demonstrated positive growth in trade. Notably, raw cotton exports experienced substantial growth, surging by 137.13 percent. The export value for raw cotton increased from $9.845 million in the previous year to $23.346 million in the current fiscal year (2023-24).
This positive trend in specific textile categories contrasts with the overall decline in the textile export sector during the mentioned period.
