On Tuesday, the Pakistan women’s team made history by defeating the New Zealand women’s team in their first-ever T20I series at the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin.
Before the start of December 2023, New Zealand women held an 8-0 record against Pakistan women in T20Is.
In the allotted twenty overs, the Pakistan women’s team batted first and achieved 137 runs for the loss of six wickets. Aalia Riaz shot 32 in 22 strokes, striking one shot past the boundary and three near the fence. Muneeba Ali scored 35 points.
Responding to the New Zealand women’s team, they managed to score only 127 runs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Fatima Sana secured three wickets, and Saeeda Iqbal contributed with two wickets.
Securing their second consecutive victory, the Pakistan women’s team now holds a commanding 2-0 lead over the hosts.
Alia Riaz earned the Player of the Match award for her outstanding batting performance.
Following the conclusion of the three-match T20I series, the Pakistan women’s cricket team is set to engage in an ODI series against the BlackCaps. The upcoming matches are scheduled as follows:
- Third T20I: December 9, at Sir John Davies Oval in Queenstown.
- After the T20Is, the focus will shift to the One Day Internationals
- First ODI: December 12, at Sir John Davies Oval in Queenstown.
- Second ODI: December 15, at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
- Third ODI: December 18, also at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
