In response to the escalating conflict and tragic loss of life in Gaza, authorities in Sharjah have announced a ban on New Year’s Eve fireworks and celebrations.

The decision, made in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, aims to draw attention to the dire humanitarian situation resulting from the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

The police in Sharjah emphasized the seriousness of the ban, stating that legal action will be taken against violators.

They called on all institutions and individuals to cooperate with the prohibition. The conflict in Gaza has already claimed over 20,000 lives, with a significant portion being women and children.

Israel’s recent declaration of no peace until the destruction of Hamas indicates a prolonged and intense conflict, with the Israeli army chief stating that the war will continue for “many more months.”

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has raised concerns globally, with calls for an end to hostilities. The siege has led to severe shortages of essential resources such as water, food, fuel, and medicine, and approximately 1.9 million Gazans have been displaced, according to the UN.

The ban on celebrations in Sharjah serves as a symbolic gesture of support for those affected by the conflict.
