Baseerat Shinwari, the trailblazing first female candidate from Orakzai tribal district, has etched her name in history by submitting her nomination papers for PK-94, vying for a seat in the provincial assembly during the forthcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.
Notably, Baseerat Shinwari is the pioneering woman hailing from the Khyber tribal district, who has taken the bold step of contesting elections on the general seat from Orakzai district post the merger of the erstwhile Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Following the scrutiny of her nomination papers, Shinwari expressed her conviction to reporters, emphasizing the imperative for women to emerge from their homes and actively engage in politics to effect positive societal change.
In her remarks, the groundbreaking candidate highlighted that the development of the country and the prosperity of the nation across all facets of life hinge upon women’s active participation in various sectors of government and society.
She underscored the significance of empowering women and granting them their rightful place in accordance with tribal traditions.
