In a recent development, an accountability court in Islamabad has granted a six-day physical remand for former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry.

The case revolves around alleged irregularities in the dual carriageway project. Accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir presided over the hearing, where NAB Prosecutor Irfan Bhola, Investigating Officer Sohail Arif, and Fawad’s counsel, Faisal Fareed Chaudhry, were present.

During the proceedings, the NAB prosecutor highlighted that a 14-day remand was initially requested, but the court granted 10 days in the last hearing. The court approved a six-day remand for the former PTI leader and adjourned the hearing until January 5.

Fawad Chaudhry was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on December 16 in connection with a corruption case. His arrest took place at Adiala Jail after NAB Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed Butt signed the arrest warrant.

In June of the same year, Fawad Chaudhry was among the PTI leaders present at the launching ceremony of the Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), led by former PTI leader Jahangir Tareen.
