CaliExpress, the world’s first AI-powered restaurant, has recently opened its doors in Pasadena, Southern California. Developed by Cali Group in collaboration with Miso Robotics and PopID, this fully autonomous establishment has quickly gained attention for its innovative approach to culinary automation.
The restaurant boasts the use of cutting-edge technology to automate all aspects of the cooking process, including ordering. Partnering with Miso Robotics, known for their AI-powered fry station Flippy, and PopID, a biometrics tech company facilitating ordering, CaliExpress has created a unique dining experience.
Guests can witness the robots efficiently handling custom orders in a “pseudo-museum experience.” John Miller, CEO of PopID, emphasized that this is the first restaurant globally where both ordering and cooking processes are entirely automated.
The restaurant’s interior features retired Flippy robot arms, experimental 3D-printed artifacts, and displayed pictures, providing a visually engaging atmosphere.
Rich Hull, CEO of Miso Robotics, highlighted the significance of AI-powered robotic systems in enhancing the quality, consistency, and speed of food preparation for major restaurant chains. This venture represents the culmination of extensive research and development, marking a milestone in autonomous dining.
