Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar issued directives on Tuesday to accelerate the privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national flag carrier.
During a meeting with his Aviation Adviser, Air Marshal (retd) Farhat Hussain, the prime minister underscored the importance of transparency in the privatization procedure. He emphasized that the government’s priority is to privatize state-owned enterprises to safeguard the national exchequer from further financial losses.
PM Kakar highlighted the significant growth potential in the country’s aviation industry through strategic investments. In addition to the privatization initiative, he directed the outsourcing of airport operations to enhance service quality.
The Aviation Adviser briefed Prime Minister Kakar on the ministry’s current affairs and the ongoing reform process in the aviation sector.
