The federal government is expected to reduce the price of petrol by Rs5 per litre from January 16, as per reports
According to the sources, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended a decrease of Rs5 per litre in the price of petrol, Rs2 in diesel, Rs3 in kerosene oil, and Rs1.75 in LSD (Light Speed Diesel) per litre.
The new prices for petroleum oil and lubricants (POL) are scheduled to be finalized on January 15 and implemented from January 16, 2024, according to OGRA sources.
In the previous fortnight, the government had maintained the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) unchanged. The decision to adjust the prices is based on the recommendations provided by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, taking into account international oil prices.
As of the first half of January 2024, the current prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan are as follows:
- Petrol: Rs267.34
- Diesel: Rs276.21
