Preparations for the General Elections 2024 in Punjab, Pakistan are at a high pace, with a crucial step taken to enhance safety and surveillance.
The Safe Cities Authority, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), and the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) have collaborated by formalizing an agreement.
In the presence of Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the agreement aimed at securing Election 2024 entails the deployment of 29,000 cameras for monitoring the general elections. The comprehensive plan is budgeted at Rs1.35 billion.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the significance of these cameras in monitoring the elections, highlighting their advanced features, including night vision capabilities, to ensure safety and tranquility during the voting process.
“The new cameras will be equipped with advanced night vision technology,” stated IG Punjab.
The agreement specifies that post-elections, these cameras will become the property of the Punjab government. IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized the collective commitment to utilizing all available resources to ensure the peaceful conduct of elections in Punjab.
