The Punjab Assembly is scheduled to convene its inaugural session tomorrow (Friday) after the recent general elections on February 8. Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman has formally issued a notification for the assembly meeting, set to commence at 10 am.
The session will begin with the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members, administered by Speaker Punjab Assembly Sabatin Khan. The schedule for the election of the new speaker and deputy speaker will also be announced.
Following the inclusion of independent MPA-elects into the party, PML-N has emerged as the largest party in the Punjab Assembly, with Maryam Nawaz announced as its head. Maryam Nawaz, poised to become Pakistan’s first-ever woman chief minister, pledged to set ‘new records’ in Punjab while fulfilling her duties as the provincial chief executive.
