Int'l Day to Combat Islamophobia being observed today

Today marks the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, a critical initiative aimed at addressing the widespread discrimination faced by Muslims globally. The United Nations General Assembly is convening its 62nd plenary session to discuss strategies and actions to combat Islamophobia effectively. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Munir Akram, is set to deliver a statement during this significant gathering, highlighting the urgent need for collective efforts to tackle Islamophobia and promote tolerance and understanding among diverse communities worldwide.

This observance underscores the UN’s commitment to combating all forms of discrimination and prejudice, reaffirming the principles of equality, human rights, and mutual respect for all individuals, regardless of their religious beliefs or backgrounds.
