A coal mine collapse in Balochistan’s Harnai District has resulted in the tragic loss of 12 miners, while eight have been successfully rescued from the site where 20 individuals were trapped.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti promptly responded to the incident, directing authorities to initiate rescue and relief operations after a mine in Harnai’s Zardalo area collapsed due to a gas explosion.
According to the chief mines expert, the rescue efforts led to the safe retrieval of eight miners and the recovery of 12 deceased individuals. Subsequently, the mine was sealed off following the conclusion of the rescue operation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the mine collapse, urging expedited rescue efforts and directing authorities to provide necessary medical treatment to the injured.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, alongside Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah, extended condolences to the affected families, expressing solidarity and support during this difficult time.
“We stand with the grieving families,” Sadiq stated in a statement issued by the official NA handle.
