President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated his steadfast dedication to driving Pakistan towards prosperity and development.
Highlighting Pakistan’s abundant resources, he emphasized that perpetual poverty is not the nation’s destiny. Instead, he envisioned a future where Pakistan harnesses its potential to flourish.
Addressing a large public gathering commemorating the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, President Zardari, as per a press release from the Media Cell Bilawal House, underscored the importance of prioritizing service to the people after assuming power. He questioned the necessity of internal conflicts and called for unity, emphasizing that collective efforts are crucial for effective governance and meaningful progress.
“Today, Bibi (Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto) resonates through history, recognizing that I have fulfilled the duty she entrusted to me,” the President remarked. Reflecting on the skepticism that followed Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom, he highlighted her foresight, citing her political will where she identified him as a seasoned leader, with 14 years of service in incarceration, capable of advancing their shared mission.
President Zardari affirmed that his presidency is built on the foundation of the people’s support, pledging to progress guided by their strength. He stressed the need for careful political maneuvering, emphasizing that every action must be meticulously weighed to safeguard the nation and its citizens from harm.
Reflecting on the adverse effects of political discord, he lamented how public welfare often suffers due to politicians’ internal conflicts.
Acknowledging past instances of national suffering, he stated that political justice was served for the martyrs, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He advocated for collective planning and nation-building as the means to propel Pakistan forward.
