During today’s Senate session, it was disclosed that Pakistan Railways has generated over forty billion rupees in revenue during the first half of the current fiscal year.
Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar informed the House during Question Hour that Pakistan Railways’ revenue had increased to 63.250 billion rupees in the previous fiscal year.
While acknowledging the significant revenue growth of Pakistan Railways, Minister Tarar stressed the importance of reducing non-development expenditures for the institution.
Highlighting the national importance of Pakistan Railways, Minister Tarar underscored the necessity of enhancing track infrastructure.
In response to a supplementary question, the Law Minister stated that there has been a gradual decline in rail accidents over recent years.
Furthermore, Minister Tarar informed the House about several upcoming projects aimed at improving transportation facilities in the federal capital.
He mentioned the introduction of three public transport routes in Islamabad, in addition to the existing Metro Bus service from Saddar to Pak Secretariat, which have been operational since 2022.
