UK Department for Transport (UK-DfT) Concludes Security Evaluation of Islamabad International Airport

The security assessment team from the UK Department for Transport (UK-DfT) has wrapped up its assessment of Islamabad International Airport, hosted by Air Cdre (R) Shahid Qadir, Director Avsec of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA). The UK-DfT team expressed satisfaction with the aviation security measures in place at the airport.

The purpose of the evaluation was to assess the overall security measures, particularly for direct flights to the UK. The inspection involved a thorough review of aviation security procedures and processes, including passenger, staff, baggage, and vehicle screening, as well as aircraft and baggage protection measures.

The team examined additional security measures for direct flights to the UK and other airport protocols. They found that all entities responsible for implementing aviation security measures generally met the standards set by the UK-DfT.

While commending the airport for its stringent security measures, the team provided some recommendations to the PCAA during the debriefing session. The final report will be submitted to the PCAA within three weeks.

Mr. Gaffar, First Secretary Aviation (UK DfT) at the British High Commission, expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended to the team by the Airport Manager and the Directorate of Avsec, PCAA. He emphasized that such engagements between the two countries will bolster aviation ties.

The UK-DfT security assessment team is scheduled to depart for the UK tomorrow, concluding their visit.
