In an interview with China Media Group, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s strong interest in learning from China’s economic model to boost its own economic growth, trade, and investment ties. He highlighted the strategic importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its transition to a new phase of high-quality development, which has significantly advanced Pakistan’s scientific and technological landscape.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for Chinese investment in Pakistan, advocating for joint ventures to foster mutual economic benefit. He announced plans to establish Special Economic Zones (SEZs), starting with the first zone at Pakistan Steel Mills, and invited Chinese provinces and enterprises to participate.
In agriculture, PM Sharif expressed Pakistan’s intent to utilize China’s advanced technology to enhance production and export capacity. He reiterated the strong and enduring nature of Pakistan-China relations, referring to the nations as “iron brothers” and expressing gratitude for China’s unwavering support.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the One China principle and lauded China’s remarkable transformation into a global power, attributing it to visionary leadership and persistent efforts. He expressed his admiration for China’s economic model, stating that it has dispelled all doubts and proven its effectiveness.
