ISLAMABAD, July 26 – As British High Commissioner Jane Marriott celebrates her first anniversary in Pakistan, she has expressed heartfelt appreciation for the country’s renowned hospitality and stunning landscapes. Reflecting on her year-long experience, Marriott shared her admiration for Pakistan’s cultural richness and the kindness of its people.

In her anniversary message, Marriott highlighted her high expectations upon arrival and expressed how Pakistan has exceeded them with its natural beauty and vibrant cultural heritage. Her fond memories include hikes in Margalla Hills and Nathia Gali, as well as delightful culinary experiences ranging from Peshawar’s famous kebabs to Karachi’s renowned biryani.

Marriott acknowledged the significant challenges Pakistan faces, including economic reform, climate change, and educational needs. Despite these obstacles, she expressed confidence in the resilience and innovative spirit of the Pakistani people. Reaffirming the United Kingdom’s commitment to support Pakistan, she underscored the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

The British High Commissioner’s positive reflections serve as a testament to Pakistan’s warmth and the enduring relationship between the UK and Pakistan. As she looks forward to another year, Marriott remains optimistic about Pakistan’s future and the continued partnership between the two countries.

In her message, Marriott shared a personal note, revealing that her 82-year-old mother and sister had visited Pakistan earlier this year and were equally enchanted by the country. She also noted that many of her colleagues who hosted family visitors reported similar experiences of the country’s welcoming nature.

The British High Commissioner’s reflections not only celebrate her enriching experiences but also highlight the ongoing mutual respect and cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
