Karachi’s Green and Orange Lines have introduced a smart ticketing system, allowing passengers to purchase bus tickets using debit and credit cards. This innovation marks the first smart ticketing initiative in Pakistan’s mass transit system.
At the launch event, Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi, Vice Chancellor of NED University and board member of the Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL), highlighted the system’s role in enhancing passenger convenience through advanced technology.
“This smart ticketing system simplifies travel for Green Line passengers by enabling easy card-based payments at all stations,” said Dr. Lodhi.
Abdul Aziz, Operations Manager for the Green Line, called this a major milestone for Pakistan’s metro services, noting that the new system improves efficiency by reducing wait times and streamlining the ticketing process. Passengers can now enjoy greater convenience by purchasing tickets with any bank’s debit or credit card.
