President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Justice Yahya Afridi, a sitting judge of the Supreme Court, as the next Chief Justice of Pakistan.
According to an official statement from the President’s Office, Justice Afridi’s appointment will take effect on October 26, 2024, for a fixed term of three years. The decision was made under the authority granted by Articles 175A(3), 177, and 179 of the Constitution.
President Zardari also confirmed that Justice Afridi will be sworn in as Chief Justice on October 26, 2024.
