Move over, pineapple pizza—there’s a new contender in town. Pizza Hut in China has launched a unique offering that’s turning heads: a pizza topped with deep-fried frogs.
Dubbed the “Goblin Pizza,” this unusual creation features a crispy bullfrog as its star ingredient, accompanied by a hard-boiled egg sliced in half and two black olives arranged to mimic the frog’s eyes. The toppings rest on a thick crust with a bed of parsley and red sauce, creating a striking visual and culinary experience.
The Goblin Pizza was reportedly launched in collaboration with the popular fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons. While there’s no word yet on how it pairs with Pizza Hut’s recently released tomato wine, it has already sparked a whirlwind of reactions online.
Social media users had mixed feelings. One Redditor called it “pure blasphemy,” while another dubbed it a “pizza felony,” joking that the creator “should go to a gulag.” Another user commented, “I’m fine with frog, but bones do not belong on pizza.”
This isn’t the first time fast food chains have experimented with unconventional menu items. KFC once launched “pink and black burgers” in China, while Burger King introduced a red hamburger in Japan. Even in the U.S., Pizza Hut offered a hot-dog stuffed crust in 2015, though it failed to catch on.
As bold food trends continue to emerge, the Goblin Pizza is sure to remain a hot topic of conversation for adventurous foodies. Would you try it?
