A Karachi court has ordered K-Electric to pay Rs4.8 million to the family of 8-year-old Azhan Siddiqui, who died from electrocution in 2017. The boy was electrocuted when electric wires snapped during rain, which was caused by K-Electric’s poor maintenance. The family claimed that the company didn’t install safety measures and neglected regular checks on the wires.
The court found K-Electric responsible for the death and initially ordered Rs14.5 million in compensation. However, the family will receive Rs4.8 million, with interest until the amount is fully paid.
