The FBR- Federal Board of Revenue has pointed out the issue regarding the complaints that are received from taxpayers and also by the other users that they are receiving emails that are being sent to them related to a list of income tax defaulters.
According to the officials, FBR has denied sending any email as they stated as there is no connection of FBR with these emails that are being sent via a fake email address such as [email protected].
The fake email is basically to hack the official details of a taxpayer as there is an attached list of Income Tax Defaulter and people are opening that email to check their data.
Similarly, some of the emails sent are pretending to contain passwords for the attached list of defaulters that is also sent to the taxpayers through fake accounts. FBR alerts regarding the attachments that these are fake emails and can infect in the form of harmful viruses or malware.
Moreover, it is highlighted that this activity is a scam by hackers who are trying to send the virus and want to get your data. FBR has advised you to immediately report the concerned authorities in case you received an email regarding this and has strictly asked the users and taxpayers to simply ignore such emails. However, the official website of FBR also provides guidance related to such issues.
