Acura has introduced a striking new electric vehicle concept at Monterey Car Week, marking a significant step in the brand’s EV journey. The Acura Performance EV concept developed on an all-new electric platform by Honda, stands out with its aggressive design featuring a boat-like front end and a Sportback-style rear. This design echoes the Precision EV concept unveiled in 2022 but brings a sportier and more dynamic aesthetic.
This concept is more than just a showpiece; it represents a forthcoming electric model set for production next year at Honda’s new “EV hub” in Ohio. During a media event, Honda’s global executive VP, Shinji Aoyama, hinted at future developments, revealing plans for an “NSX-type” electric sports car expected to arrive around 2027 or 2028.
Currently, Acura’s sole electric vehicle on the market is the ZDX, which shares its platform with Honda’s Prologue, both built on GM’s Ultium EV platform. The new Performance EV concept, however, is Acura’s first EV independent of GM’s platform, signaling a new era for Honda and Acura’s electric vehicle lineup.Top of Form
