The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has classified the condition of 23% of Pakistan Railways’ locomotives and 24% of its wagons as unsatisfactory.
In this regard, an ADB paper offers recommendations for enhancing the railway industry in Central Asian nations, including Pakistan.
According to the research, 23% of Pakistan’s railway locomotives and 24% of its wagons are in poor condition.
The region’s railway industries, including Pakistan’s, are experiencing financial difficulties, according to the ADB.
The ADB advised that in order to strengthen the region’s railways, there was a need to increase lease or private sector partnerships.
“Other countries, including Pakistan, need to improve the efficiency of staff in the railway system,” it added.
