On Monday, Senator Faisal Javed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came out of hiding and secured transit bail from the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Chief Justice Mohammad Ibrahim Khan of the PHC approved the transit bail petition of the PTI leader, who had been absent from public view for several months. The court granted relief to Javed against bail bonds amounting to Rs100,000 and directed the PTI senator to appear before the relevant court.
Speaking to journalists outside the court, he expressed his happiness at being granted bail and acknowledged that “everyone is going through testing times. I hope that all oppressed return home.”
The same judge also granted approval for PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister nominee, Ali Amin Gandapur’s transit bail petition against bail bonds worth Rs100,000 in a case registered against him in Islamabad.
Chief Justice Khan had previously approved PTI secretary general and nominee for the Prime Minister’s Office, Omar Ayub Khan, in two dozen cases registered against him in various parts of the country last week.
Several PTI leaders have either gone into hiding or are in custody following the party’s workers’ actions on May 9, during which state installations were ransacked. This incident occurred on the same day when PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested in a graft case.
