The national flag carrier, airlines, was instructed by aviation minister Khawaja Saad Rafique to enhance flying operations to Quetta after disastrous floods cut off the land connection to Balochistan.
At a special meeting of the aviation department he oversaw, the aviation minister handed the directives.
Due to the absence of ground connectivity, instructions were given to local national and other airlines to enhance their air operations out of Quetta.
Additionally, he gave the go-ahead for more weekly flights from Lahore to Quetta. He suggested that PIA advertise its discount to seniors, students, and special individuals.
PIA has created the feasibility of operating flights from Quetta to Iran and Iraq to provide safe and comfortable travel facilities to the pilgrims, Rafique said during the meeting.
Khawaja Saad Rafique said that budget airlines with small jets will be encouraged to increase domestic flights and make small airports functional.
