Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, were granted post-arrest bail on Friday in connection with the D-Chowk protest case.
The decision came from an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), presided over by Judge Abual Hasnaat Zulqarnain, who approved their bail applications after reviewing arguments from both sides. Each sister was granted bail against surety bonds of Rs20,000.
The sisters were among several PTI activists arrested by the Islamabad police on October 6 while attempting to reach D-Chowk for a planned protest.
In related news, Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, was released from Adiala Jail on Thursday after securing bail in the Toshakhana-II case. The Islamabad High Court, led by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, accepted her bail plea against a surety of Rs1 million.
The court ordered the immediate release of Bushra Bibi, who had been incarcerated for approximately nine months following a 14-year jail sentence imposed in the Toshakhana case on January 31 of this year. Bushra had voluntarily surrendered to authorities at the time of her arrest.
These developments come amidst heightened tensions within the PTI and ongoing protests against government policies.
