The Ministry of Energy claimed on Tuesday that all 1,112 grid stations of the country’s national grid have been “restored” after a major 24-hour power breakdown.
“All 1,112 grid stations restored within 24 hours nationwide,” tweeted the ministry.
The Ministry of Energy states that it usually takes 48 to 72 hours to reconnect power plants with a combined capacity of around 9500 megawatts to the transmission system following a power failure.
Many districts of Karachi, including Gulistan-e-Johar, Malir, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Landhi, Saddar, and others, still don’t have power.
Due to a problem with the national grid, the entire nation had been thrown into darkness on Monday morning.
Reasons shortfall in electricity
The extreme lack of electricity generation is thought to be the primary factor behind the countrywide power failures that occurred.
Monday morning’s power production was less than 7,000 megawatts, according to reliable sources.
Up to 6,000 megawatts were present.
Sources claim that the country’s hydropower output has decreased by 90% while its thermal power output has increased by 70%.
PM Orders
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday took notice of the countrywide power breakdown.
