All of the students stuck in the Battagram chairlift have been rescued.
According to information, Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated that the rescue effort was completed and that all trapped students had been freed.
All school pupils and teachers stuck in the chairlift in Battagram were safely rescued by Pakistan Army Aviation officials, Special Service Group (SSG) commandos, and locals.
The rescuer was seen dangling from a helicopter and using a harness to pull one of the children stuck in the Battagram chairlift out. After several hours of rescue efforts, the student was safely transferred to the ground.
The air rescue mission was called off after two children were rescued owing to windy conditions and nightfall. After the fourth effort to evacuate the youngsters, they were saved.
The Pakistan Army Aviation and SSG troops also agreed to resume the ground-based chairlift rescue operation.
In addition, the Pakistan Army sent a local cable-crossing specialist from the Northern territories. The expert on cable crossings will also assist the rescuers.
The rescue operation is being led by GOC SSG, and a final helicopter attempt was attempted to extract the trapped pupils and a teacher. Because of the storm and darkness, a helicopter rescue would be more difficult and risky.
All plans have been prepared for the operation to continue at night. Furthermore, the SSG commandos delivered food and medicine to those stuck in the chairlift.
It has been learned that a mini chairlift would be erected at the same rope to rescue the remaining passengers from the broken chairlift.
Earlier, a Pakistan Army chopper arrived in Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to rescue schoolchildren and teachers who were stranded midair after the rope of a chairlift traveling over a river broke on Tuesday in the Allai Jhangray Pashto area.
SSGC commandos are conducting a rescue operation in a “very careful and deliberate manner.”
According to reports, the chairlift became stuck in Battagram’s Tehsil Alai, leaving eight pupils and their instructor stranded in midair for several hours.
Earlier, Commissioner Hazara Sultan Aamir stated that he had requested helicopter assistance from the KP government and the Pakistan Army to rescue the stranded pupils and teachers.
