Pakistan is ranked sixth in the ICC Test Rankings following the annual update by the game’s governing body.
The Men in Green, on the other hand, have fallen one spot in the ICC T20I Rankings to fourth place.
India now leads the rankings in both Test and Twenty20 International cricket, having dethroned Australia in the longest format of the game.
“India has reclaimed No. 1 in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings following the annual update that drops results from the 2019-20 season and reflects all series completed since May 2020,” the ICC said in a news release.
“India’s rating points have risen from 119 to 121 as their 2-0 loss to New Zealand in March 2020 is no longer counted in the rankings, which weight series completed before May 2022 at 50% and subsequent series at 100%.” India last topped the rankings for a month in December 2021.
“Australia has dropped from 122 to 116 rating points as their home series wins over Pakistan (2-0) and New Zealand (3-0) in 2019-20 are no longer counted, while their 4-0 win over England in 2021-22 has been reduced to 50% of its weighting.”
It should be remembered that Australia will face India in the World Test Championship 2023 final on June 7 at The Oval.
After the conclusion of the ongoing Pakistan-New Zealand series on May 10, the annual update to the ODI team rankings will be finalized.
