In order to support the civilian authorities in the rescue and relief efforts in flood-affected areas, the federal government on Friday announced the deployment of armed forces in all four provinces.
Details indicate that the interior ministry has issued the notification for the army’s deployment in each of the nation’s four provinces. In order to carry out relief and rescue operations, the armed would help the civilian authorities.
The notification stated that the deployment had been approved at the provinces’ requests. According to Article 245 of the constitution, the military have been deployed, it was added.
The notification stated that the government had also given its approval to the decision to send out the military.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) received a letter from the Sindh Government on August 4 requesting the deployment of the armed forces to support civil administration during relief and rescue efforts in Sindh.
Details indicate that the NDMA received a letter from the Director of Operations of the Sindh Government requesting the deployment of the army in Sindh’s flood-affected areas. According to the letter, the government urged that the military be sent into action to support the civil authority’s relief and rescue efforts.
