Arshad Nadeem, a gold winner at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 and an Olympian javelin thrower from Pakistan, received the most attention for his historic performance on Sunday.
Arshad said in a video message that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had given him a scholarship to help with his training for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
“I am honored for being awarded a scholarship by International Olympic Committee which will help me prepare for Paris Olympics 2024,” Arshad disclosed.
“On this occasion, I would like to thank Pakistan Olympic Association, Pakistan Sports Board, and Pakistan Athletics Federation for their efforts to arrange this scholarship for me,” added Arshad who finished fifth in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Arshad’s record-breaking performance on Sunday brought honor to the entire nation of Pakistan. With a throw of 90.18 meters, Arshad, a 25-year-old javelin thrower, not only broke his own record but also set a new CWG one.
