The Asian Championship will be held from July 12 to July 16; 60 players took part in a tryout in Lahore organised by AFP.
Yasir Sultan will compete at the Asian Championship alongside star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, who earned a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Arshad Nadeem, a bronze medalist at the Asian Games, is expected to face up against India’s Olympic champion, Neeraj Chopra.
Shajar Abbas, a sprinter who qualified for the 100-meter final at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last year, will compete in the Asian Championship alongside Arshad Nadeem and Yasir Sultan.
Abdul Mueed will compete in the 200 and 400 metres, while Pakistan’s sole female competitor, Esha Imran, will compete in the 100, 200, and 400 metres.
At the Asian Athletics Championship, Arshad Nadeem has a chance to end Pakistan’s 32-year medal drought. Pakistan’s last medal in the competition was in Kuala Lumpur in 1991.
