In an attempt to reduce Artificial Shortages, automating the petroleum sector of Pakistan, the Petroleum Division has entrusted the energy and technology experts to evaluate a technical assessment for the innovation in this sector. However, when the automation/computerization system will be installed Therefore, it will record real-time data of their daily sales. This up-gradation will help sleek out the fuel supply countrywide and will empower the oil sector to become independent.

Moreover, it will assist Pakistan in sparing the billions of Rupees on its annual petroleum import bill. As indicated by a senior Petroleum Division official, the government is working on a multi-pronged scheme to patch up the oil and gas sector of Pakistan. It includes ensuring a continuous supply of fuel across Pakistan by recording the daily sales of oil safe stores and petrol pumps. By expanding the technical and professional capacity of OGRA [The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority].

However, the official authority added that “the government will not overlook the position/reaction of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) starting now and will put an end to the issue of Artificial Shortages once and for all in Foreseeable future.”

In this regard, Petroleum Division has drafted a bill that will legally tie oil storehouses and petrol pumps to permit the government to record daily sales once signed into law. Oil warehouses and petrol pumps will have no option but to follow the law. In case of refusal, the OGRA will be legally authorized to seal the disputing terminals and pumps and renounce their licenses.

The government needs to end the issue of fuel accumulating for eternity. It would not be tolerated that OMCs shortens the supply to the pumps. Therefore, whenever the government reduces the oil prices to benefit the common man, the OMCs follow up their standard business after a flood in petroleum prices to make money. The technical evaluation of the automation system will be completed in the following weeks while its development and deployment will take a couple of months. As it would not stroll in the recreation center to automate more than 9,000 oil stations, storehouses, and petrol pumps across the country, the official added.
