Asad Umar retires from politics, quits PTI

Former finance minister and PTI leader Asad Umar announced that he’s leaving politics on Saturday.

He’s been in public service for over ten years and joined PTI in 2012. Asad, who held different roles in the party, including secretary-general, shared in his retirement statement, “I am also resigning from basic membership of the PTI.”

He mentioned not agreeing with the party’s approach of confrontation with state institutions, believing it’s not in the national interest.

Expressing gratitude to those who supported him, Asad Umar thanked his NA-54 team and voters in Islamabad for repeatedly electing him. He said, “I’ve done my best to serve the constituency.”

In his message, Umar wished blessings for the nation, saying, “May Allah bless the nation with his bounties.” This decision represents a significant change in Asad Umar’s political journey, closing this chapter of his career.
