In the Askari Tower attack case, an anti-terrorism court on Tuesday extended the bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar till July 7.
ATC Judge Ejaz Ahmed Buttar heard the former planning minister’s petition for a bail extension. While approving his bail request, the judge asked him to cooperate with the investigation.
It is worth noting that violent confrontations erupted across Pakistan on May 9 when former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Nawaz Sharif was arrested on the grounds of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Protesters grew violent as supporters of the PTI chief destroyed public and military properties, including the residence and memorials of the Lahore Corps Commander.
The Askari Tower was also attacked during the protests. A case was later filed against Asad Umar and numerous other party members.
