The United Arab Emirates (UAE) cricket board is hosting the International LeagueT20 (ILT20), and wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan is the first Pakistani participant to make it there.
Desert Vipers, who signed the 24-year-old athlete, revealed his starting lineup on Twitter.
Introducing Khan, the franchise wrote: “He is one of the world’s best players of spin in T20 cricket, averaging 35 with a strike rate of 160 against slower bowlers – Azam is ideally suited to attacking those middle overs for #DesertVipers”.
The multinational firm Lancer Capitial, which also owns the Manchester United franchise in the English Premier League, has recruited the son of former Pakistani goalkeeper Moin Khan.
Azam Khan has played for Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League, and Barbados Royals in the CPL in addition to three T20 Internationals for Pakistan.
Other teams in the ILT20 include the Indian-owned Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, MI Emirates, Sharjah Warriors, Dubai Capital, and Gulf Giants.
