Babar Azam made history on Thursday by becoming the first Pakistani batter to score 30 List-A centuries. His unbeaten 104 off 100 balls led Allied Bank Stallions to a commanding victory over Engro Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
Dolphins struggled for the second consecutive game, collapsing to 97 runs while chasing Stallions’ target of 272. Babar’s century, featuring seven fours and three sixes, provided much-needed relief after a challenging few months of form. His performance was supported by notable contributions from Yasir Khan (46) and Shan Masood (34).
Stallions’ bowlers, led by Mehran Mumtaz (3-14) and Jahandad Khan (3-18), dismantled the Dolphins, securing their place in the playoff stage alongside UMT Markhors and Lake City Panthers. The Dolphins’ loss puts them in a critical match against the Lions to vie for the final playoff spot on September 22.
Azam’s century marks a significant milestone, restoring confidence as he eyes more achievements in the coming tournaments.
