Babar Azam will once again take the responsibilities as captain in the upcoming T20I and ODI series against New Zealand.
The selection committee will hold a meeting on March 30 to announce the T20I and ODI teams after talking with Babar upon his arrival in Lahore. It’s anticipated that the meeting will happen on April 3rd or 4.
After the defeat in the series against Afghanistan, only a few changes are expected for the T20I matches against New Zealand, according to the sources.
For the T20I series, the approach of giving young players one more chance can be used. Abrar Ahmed, Usama Mir, and Haseebullah are other contenders for the series.
For the ODI matches, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials have chosen to forgo further experimentation. Pakistan will take the field with a powerful combination and experienced players with the presence of the 2023 World Cup in mind.
The T20I and ODI squad members are expected to train together at a training camp starting on April 7 or 8 at the National Cricket Academy.
The remaining players will continue to train at the National Cricket Academy for the ODI matches after the selected players travel for the T20I series.
Due to Ramadan, there is a proposed plan to train at night. The final decision will be made by the team management after consultation with the team’s captain.
