Bushra Bibi Granted Interim Bail in 32 Terrorism Cases

Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has been granted interim bail in 32 cases, including 23 related to the May 9 violence. An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi approved her bail until January 13, 2025, after she appeared in court alongside her counsel and provided the necessary surety bonds.

Bushra Bibi faces charges in cases filed in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal. Her lawyer, Faisal Malik, argued that the charges were politically motivated and intended for revenge. Speaking to the media, Malik emphasized that Bushra Bibi had voluntarily surrendered to the court and was named in 23 of the cases in Rawalpindi alone.

After the bail was granted, Bushra Bibi left the court, with her next appearance scheduled for mid-January.

Earlier, an accountability court in Rawalpindi had suspended non-bailable arrest warrants against Bushra Bibi in connection with a £190 million case, which had been adjourned until December 12.

Additionally, an FIR filed on December 13 named Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan, and others in relation to the deaths of three Rangers personnel during a PTI protest in Islamabad on November 26. The FIR accused the couple of involvement in planning and inciting violence against the Rangers personnel during the protest, allegedly coordinated in Adiala Jail.
