The Canadian government has issued an important statement on the Express Entry system, which manages the country’s economic immigration.
For the first time, category-based selection will be used to invite prospective permanent residents who have particular skills, training, or language ability.
More information about the timing of invites for each category and the application process will be published in the following weeks, according to the Canadian immigration ministry.
This year, candidates who match the following criteria will be prioritised in category-based selection invitations:
- Strong French language proficiency
- Work experience in the fields of healthcare, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
- Trades (such as carpentry, plumbing, and contracting) -Transportation, agriculture, and agri-food.
The Canadian immigration ministry stressed in a statement that this category-based selection approach will allow Canada to accept more competent workers in these specialized occupations.
It is consistent with the country’s aim to bring in-demand experts into communities across the country.
Furthermore, by emphasizing Francophone immigration, the Canadian government assures that French-speaking communities can continue to grow and live in their preferred official language in Canada.
Earlier, Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser tweeted, “Visa processing times are not 802 days for new applications.” A complete TRV application from Pakistan is now handled in 60 days, and we expect to reach 30 days in the near future.”
