The government has established a central business district over an area of 2,500 acres in Gwadar city under the Gwadar Master Plan. Central business district set up in Gwadar. A 280km road network has also been constructed.
The Director General of Gwadar Development Authority, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani, disclosed this while speaking at the Gwadar National Conference held on Thursday.
He said that a 150-bed Pak-China Friendship Hospital is under construction in the port city at a cost of $30.5 million, which would be completed soon to provide best medical facilities to the people of Gwadar district.
He said that Gwadar is the only city after Islamabad which under the master plan the construction and development process is being carried out in accordance with international standards. Work is underway on various water supply projects in Gwadar.
“GDA is working on various projects for the development of fishermen and fisheries, including construction of jetty at Padisar, development of boat making industry and construction of floating jetty at Guns, construction of fishing jetty at Sarbandar and Pushkan,” he said.
Mr Qambrani stated that bids have been invited from national and foreign firms for the promotion of tourism, a comprehensive plan for which will follow.
He went on to say that Gwadar is the only city, after Islamabad, which has carried out construction and development work under the master plan in accordance with international standards.
In Gwadar, various water supply projects are underway. In this regard, two dams, Shadi Kaur and Sowd, have been completed and connected to the city through pipelines. Additionally, the old distribution water supply pipelines have been replaced in Gwadar town.
To make Gwadar an environment-friendly city, a sewage water treatment plant has been set up. This will allow sewage water to be used for irrigation and agriculture instead of polluting the coastline.
