Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Tuesday that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the 1,200 Megawatt Chashma-V Nuclear Power Plant is a significant step forward in Pakistan-China economic cooperation.
On Tuesday, he remarked during the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the Chashma-V Nuclear Power Plant in Islamabad that the project will begin immediately.
Under difficult economic conditions, the premier stated that Pakistan is once again open to a 4.8 billion dollar investment from China in this project, sending the message that Pakistan is a country where Chinese corporations and investors continue to express their trust and faith.
He stated that Chinese companies made an Rs30 billion concession to Pakistan in two phases throughout the project’s implementation.
He stated that when Pakistan faced economic issues, and we were also working with the IMF to finalise the 9th Review and meet all of the IMF’s requirements, China once again came to our aid and rescue.
PM Shehbaz Sharif also praised great fraternal countries Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar for offering assistance to Pakistan.
The premier expressed gratitude to President XI Jinping and the Chinese leadership for their great assistance to Pakistan.
Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the Chinese Charge d’affaires Ms Pang Chunxue, representatives of Chinese corporations, and other higher officials from Pakistan and China were also present.
