ISLAMABAD: The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions is being observed across Pakistan today with deep religious reverence, honoring their supreme sacrifices for the cause of Islam.

Mourning processions are being held in various cities and towns nationwide to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala. Security arrangements have been meticulously prepared, with containers placed around procession routes to ensure safety.

In Karachi, the main Chehlum procession will begin at Nishtar Park and conclude at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar, following its traditional route. Additional police and Rangers personnel have been deployed at Numaish and surrounding areas to maintain order. As part of the traffic plan, roads from Nishtar Park to the procession’s endpoint at Imambargah Hussainia Irania near Kakri Ground are closed to traffic.

In Lahore, the central procession will start from Haveli Alif Shah and conclude at Karbala Gamay Shah, following designated routes.

The Chehlum observance occurs 40 days after the Day of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions by Yazidi forces in the Battle of Karbala in 61 A.H.

Mobile Service Suspended

Cellular and internet services have been suspended across Karachi and other parts of Sindh province during the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) to maintain law and order. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that the suspension, requested by the Interior Ministry, affects areas including Saddar, Clifton, Defence, North Karachi, New Karachi, Ancholi, Liaquatabad, Gulbahar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal Colony, and Malir in Karachi.

Additionally, services have been halted in Hyderabad, Thatta, Dadu, Sujawal, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Rohri, and Larkana to ensure security during the Chehlum observance.
