ISLAMABAD – General Li Qiaoming, Commander of China’s People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss deepening Sino-Pak relations. The meeting focused on strengthening their strategic partnership and boosting bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the enduring ties between Pakistan and China, referring to the nations as “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners” with close bonds that have strong support across Pakistan’s political, public, and institutional domains. He highlighted the importance of this relationship for the progress and development of both countries, particularly in the defense sector, which he described as a cornerstone for regional peace and stability.
General Li Qiaoming reaffirmed China’s unwavering commitment to its relationship with Pakistan, referring to it as an “iron brother” and strategic ally. He pledged to elevate this bilateral friendship by enhancing cooperation, particularly in defense and military exchanges, which have been steadily increasing.
The Chinese commander also praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their vital role in promoting regional stability, peace, and counter-terrorism efforts. He assured that the PLA remains committed to expanding its collaboration with Pakistan to further strengthen both nations’ military capabilities.
The discussions highlighted the enduring Sino-Pak relationship, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to the defense and strategic partnership that has been a hallmark of their bilateral cooperation.
