An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted pre-arrest bail to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Friday. The court approved Gandapur’s interim bail plea in a case registered at the CTD police station.
According to the bail plea, Gandapur was not present at the location of the incident, although his name was included in the FIR. Earlier, on March 19, an ATC had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Gandapur in connection with the events of May 9, during which military installations were attacked. The court ordered the police to present him before the court on April 2.
The arrest warrants were issued in a case registered at City Police Station. However, the Peshawar High Court ruled that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was not authorized to proceed against KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The court order stated that after the establishment of the election tribunal, the ECP was not empowered to take further action. It emphasized that the election commission lacked authority to act against the petitioner.
The preliminary notice was issued to the concerned parties, and the proceedings regarding the election commission’s disqualification notice were suspended, as per the court order.
