On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave her approval for the construction of the 21-storey Arfa Karim Tower-II in Lahore.
During a meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz, a comprehensive briefing was presented on various projects, including IT, Education, and the Film City Project in Lahore. It was highlighted that these initiatives would commence soon, with the active participation of major corporations like Microsoft, Oracle, and other significant players in the IT industry.
Emphasizing the global outreach of the IT City, Maryam Nawaz urged the invitation of prominent IT companies from China to establish offices within the city, aiming to provide them with lucrative business opportunities.
Setting clear timelines for the Lahore Knowledge Park and IT City projects, Maryam Nawaz also greenlit the construction of the 21-storey Arfa Karim Tower-II. Additionally, a free Wi-Fi pilot project in Lahore gained approval during the meeting.
In a bid to enhance connectivity, the Punjab chief minister directed the initiation of free Wi-Fi services, particularly at educational institutions, airports, railway stations, and bus stands. Maryam Nawaz specified that the free Wi-Fi project would kick off at ten locations in Lahore within two weeks, with plans to install free Wi-Fi points at a total of 516 places.
