Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Ejaz Chaudhry said that he expects Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi to dissolve the provincial assembly as he made a promise with Imran Khan.
The PTI official made his remarks after the PTI president said last month that the assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be dissolved. The Punjab chief minister has already expressed his concerns about the dissolution of the provincial assembly.
EX PM Imran Khan demands the government call early elections.
He said that the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies must be dissolved in 10 to 15 days.
Addressing the question of whether the Punjab CM will dissolve the provincial assembly, he said that one should not speculate unnecessarily.
According to the PTI chairman, 73% of Pakistanis want elections to be held as soon as possible.
In response to a query, he stated that every understanding between President Arif Alvi and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will be a positive step. But he made it clear that only immediate elections will be discussed.
Punjab CM against dissolving assembly immediately
On December 4, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi stated that he did not see elections happening in the following four months when speaking to a private news programme.
The CM said, “Elections cannot be held before four months; the federal and provincial governments need time to work and the elections may be delayed even after October next year.”
PTI Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry also said that Khan has advised all party lawmakers to go back to their constituencies and prepare for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
